The Marykirk Raft Race has ran continuously from 1995 to 2005. 2009 is the first year, under the new legislative regime imposed by local and central governments. As you may be aware, this new regime of legislation has killed off a number of other events, and its only due to the rentless tenacity of Kay and the committee that the raft race is back on in 2009. Just look for the extremely harassed committee members in their highly attractive dayglow vests on the day.

The Raft Race exists solely to raise money for a number of worthy charities. Traditionally, CHAS (Childrens Hospice Association of Scotland - formerly Rachel House) receive 50% of the monies raised, and the rest is disbursed after the event to local groups and charities. The following sections outline the charitable disbursments for a few of the years.
